The Moratorium on Sheriff’s Sales is Over
In March of 2020, Governor Murphy issued an executive order prohibiting evictions and sheriff’s sales because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shortly thereafter, Congress passed the CARES act, providing for forbearance if you had trouble paying your mortgage because of COVID.
As of September 7, 2021, the sheriff’s sales have started again in New Jersey.
Evictions as a result of sheriff’s sales are still on hold until November 15, 2021, but that will not stop you from losing your home if you are behind.
Now is the time to act.
It is not too late.
